JOTA ready with Hypercar drivers

JOTA has presented the three drivers, who will run in their brand-new Hypercar programme in the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship.

Yifei Ye was named the first driver, a couple of months back, while the two other drivers weren’t named.

The British team has now revealed, to nobody’s surprise, that Antonio Felix da Costa and Will Stevens are the two other drivers onboard the Porsche 963

That pairing was part of claiming the LMP2 Championship for the 2022 season, where Roberto Gonzalez was the Silver ranked driver. But Hypercar is no mean feat, especially when you get Hertz as the title sponsor, so the Hypercar outfit will be known as Hertz Team JOTA for the 2023 season.

There is still some doubt about when the debut is going to happen. But the first round at Sebring appears very unlikely, since there is a long waiting line for the hybrid parts for the new LMDh cars, which also will make their debut in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship this season. Porsche already has four cars to run, with two works cars each in FIA WEC and IMSA respectively. The exact delivery date for Hertz Team JOTA hasn’t been revealed just yet.

Other than the Hypercar category, there will be an LMP2 car as part of the team, with the two Danes Oliver Rasmussen and David Heinemeier Hansson sharing the ORECA 07 Gibson with Brazilian racer Pietro Fittipaldi in the FIA WEC 2023.
